Age Group Update for 2026/2027 Season

Beginning with the 2026/2027 season, ASG/Warner will transition from a birth year (calendar year) team structure to a grade year (school year) structure.

This change follows updated guidelines from U.S. Soccer and the major youth soccer governing bodies, aligning clubs across the country under a consistent model. Moving to a school year system allows players to be grouped more closely with their classmates and peers, creating stronger social connections and a more natural team environment.
We believe this shift will provide a more positive overall experience for our players by improving team continuity, communication, and development both on and off the field.
As with any change, some players may move to different teams. Our staff is working carefully to ensure that every player is placed in the best possible environment for their development and enjoyment of the game.

Our priority remains the same: to provide a clear pathway, high-quality coaching, and a supportive, family-oriented culture for every player.

If you have any questions about how this change may impact your player, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our staff.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is this change happening?
This is a nationwide change directed by U.S. Soccer and other governing bodies to align all clubs under the same age group structure.

What is the difference between birth year and grade year?
Birth year groups players based on the calendar year they were born. Grade year groups players based on the school year (August 1 – July 31), aligning them more closely with classmates.

Will my child be on a different team?
Possibly. Some players may shift teams depending on their grade. Our staff will work to ensure every player is placed in the best developmental environment.
Does this affect all programs?
Yes, this change applies across our programs unless otherwise communicated for specific groups.

How will teams be formed?
Teams will continue to be formed based on ability, development, and overall fit, with the new grade year structure as the framework.

Will this impact my child’s development?
No. Our focus remains on long-term player development. This change simply adjusts how players are grouped, not how they are trained or developed.
